Rhisana followed Adriel through the crowd, returning curious looks with a smile. They likely did make a funny pair, but hopefully people would see it as a sign of the changing world.

With a slight sigh, more at herself then anything, Rhisana leaned on Adriel. She wanted to be sure he'd hear. "I'm sorry I made such a scene earlier." she told him softly.

Adriel found himself in an awkward position between Rhisana moving so close, and her apology which he couldn't quite find the words for. "You were only doing your duty," he justified. Despite his embarrassment at the time, Adriel couldn't find himself wanting an apology from her. They were nearing the temple, and Adriel would be grateful for the moment when they could drop the subject.

"Perhaps I was, but I was doing it badly." Rhisana replied, looking up at Adriel with a slight smile. "And I've already imposed a great deal on you and Elohssa. I really do appreciate you taking the time to show me around town, Adriel." She shook her head at herself. "Well, mistakes are sometimes the best teacher, true? Next time I'll do better." she winked at Adriel. "And I won't drag you into the next one, I promise."

Adriel smirked slightly at Rhisana's promise. "Very well," he replied, humor in his voice now. "I... would appreciate that." He broke out in a broader, and rather shy, smile.

Soon, the two had reached the steps of the Marfa temple, and Adriel's arm slipped away from Rhisana as he began to climb up to the temple doors. It always brought a mix of anxiety and comfort to him to see Elohssa; fear of the Goddess and care for his sister mingled together. The priestesses were often friendly to him, though he had seen their wariness when he was first introduced to them, and at other dark elves. It seemed that they had accepted him with time, and his sister's blessing, though.

As Rhisana had suspected, Adriel had a charming smile. She didn't compliment him on it though, determind to not embarrass him anymore today if she could help it. Instead, she hurried ahead of Adriel up the temple steps, eager to see Marfa's home on Marmo.

Adriel trailed behind Rhisana as they climbed the temple stairs. She seemed eager to be within the comfort of the temple. Soon, they were within it's doors and stepped into the main chapel. Elohssa was there, busy with her duties, along with two other priestesses. As soon as the doors opened though, the half-elf perked up and left the altar to greet her brother and the priestess.

"Welcome to Persei's Marfa temple!" she proudly declared to Rhisana, reaching for the priestess's hands in a friendly gesture. "I hope your trip to the market was pleasant. It can get a little rough there."

Once inside the temple, Rhisana stopped and took in the chapel. Marveling once more at what Marfa's priests had accomplished in such a short time, she closed her eyes and spoke a short prayer to her patron and that of the temple, wishing peace and the love of the gods of light for Marmo and its people.

Opening her eyes, Rhisana saw Elohssa approaching and hurried to meet her, taking the half-elf's hands with a smile. "Thank you! This is truely a magnificent home for the Goddess. You and the others have much to be proud of here." Rhisana looked over her shoulder at Adriel. "The city was lovely. Your brother is a excellent guide." the priestess's smile turned a little wry. "Though I did make a bit of a fool of myself at the marketplace, that's hardly his fault."

The young Marfa priestess laughed and grinned at her half-brother. "I never thought I'd hear such high praise, he's usually a bit stuffy," she teased, but following her statement, there was a very subtle flinch, as if she were afraid of rebuke.

Adriel gave a slight scoff, but made no more complaints. It had taken Elohssa a long time to let down her guard enough to feel comfortable with good-natured sibling ribbing, and though it wasn't in his nature, Adriel indulged her. Deep down, he was happy that she felt safe enough to tease him.

The tension in Elohssa's shoulders dropped after Adriel's response, and only then did she turn her attention back to Rhisana. "Well, our supper is ready if you'd like to join me and the priestesses," she offered. "We were already expecting Adriel to eat with us, as he is my guest." All signs of the momentary tension after her joke were gone, as if it never happened.

Rhisana thought she saw Elohssa tense slightly as she tease Adriel, but she thought better then to ask. Even with her limited knowledge of the two's lives, she could guess that even simple things like joking with each other hadn't come easily. Again she was touched with sympathy for the half-siblings and the lives they had lived.

"Of course." Rhisana said, keeping a gentle, friendly hold of Elohssas' left hand as she to Adriel. "We did work up a appetite out in town didn't we?" the priestess asked. A stray memory clicked, Adriel's stomach loudly demanding its dinner, and Rhisana suddenly had to fight against a grin. She manage, though she was fairly sure the laughter showed in her eyes. "And I'm very curious to know how they feed you here." she said briskly, turning back to Elohssa. "I know back home they keep us quite simply. Healthy for you though, of course."

"Oh, it's the same here," Elohssa replied, turning to lead the pair back to the temple's galley, waving her hand for them to follow along. "Well, I suppose we might have a little more variety. You see, we do our best to support the local farmers. They need all the income they can get to manage a foothold on the land. Goblins, ogres, raiders, and other things from the forest are a threat to the outlying farms. We figure they more we contribute, the better they can deal with those threats."

The young priestess led them through the chapel, then down a flight of stairs to the back of the temple. Smells of cooking food wafted up from the galley as they came close, causing Adriel's stomach to complain more. As they reached the ground floor, they were greeted by a spartan, yet cozy, dining hall lit by candles in the fading light from the east-facing windows. A long table surrounded by chairs, all carved of the dark wood of Marmo trees, was surrounded by white robed priestesses sitting to eat, or bustling around the table.

One of the priestesses, a middle-aged woman with silver-streaked black hair took notice of Elohssa and her guests. "Ah, this must be Rhisana," she said to the half-elf priestess as she smiled to Rhisana. "Welcome to our temple. And Adriel, welcome back."

Rhisana followed along behind Elohssa, trying to listen to her and take in the temple at the same time. The mention of the parils of farming had reminded her of where she was. The town was such a thriving, lively community that she'd nearly forgotten that this was the frontier. She decided that, tomorrow perhaps, she'd pay a visit to one of these outlying farms, to offer her gods' blessing and whatever other help she could.

Before that though, came supper. Rhisana smoothed the skirts of her robe, trying to make herself as presentable as possible. Entering the dining hall, she inclinded her head to the priestess who had spoken. "You honor me with your hospitality, Mother." she said respectfully, using a appropriate term of address for a elder priestess. Glancing at Adriel, Rhisana smiled encouragingly. Though he was clearly welcome, she could only guess how nervous all this made the dark elf.

"This is Mother Mosine," Elohssa spoke up, offering Rhisana a proper introduction. "She serves directly under the Duchess Neese."

"Our arrangement on Marmo is a bit different than in other nations," Mosine added, smiling kindly to Elohssa. "As Neese has both duties of state and the temple, myself and another priestess in Salbad have been stationed beneath her to manage the temple in day to day activities. Of course, it isn't often typical to have two major temples in two cities so close together, but the land of Marmo needs Marfa's guidance more than any other place."

"But perhaps we should discuss the details after supper?" Elohssa suggested, eager to get her meal.

"Oh, of course, please, take a seat. Any open seat is fine," Mosine said, stepping out of the way for Rhisana and Adriel.

Elohssa found a seat with a few empty chairs nearby, and Adriel slipped in to a seat beside her. Despite how he stood out from the priestesses, they paid him such little mind that he felt an odd combination of comfort and frustration at being practically ignored. Soon, the meal was served up, but Adriel and Elohssa did not eat yet. Mosine took a seat at the head of the table, waiting for everyone to find their place so they could pray before they ate. The first time Adriel had visited the temple, he had made the mistake of eating as soon as his meal was presented, but now he was familiar enough with the customs.

As soon as the final priestesses had joined the table, Mosine led a prayer while Adriel waited anxiously to dig into his food, his stomach protesting further at having a warm meal presented in front of him that he couldn't yet touch. Once they finally finished their prayer, Adriel had to restrain himself from attacking his meal with the voraciousness of a starved dog. He managed to keep his decorum, but he ate fast enough to make it obvious that he was indeed very hungry.

While they ate, Mosine turned her attention to Rhisana from the head of the table. "So, Sister Rhisana, what brings you to Marmo?" she asked the Falis priestess.

Rhisana listened attentively to Mosine's explanation of how the temples worked on Marmo. While she could have discussed this topic with the Mother right here and for quite some time, Elohssa's promt reminded Rhisana of just how hungry she was, to say nothing of how Adriel must be suffering. There would be plenty of time to talk later.

Following Adriel to the table, Rhisana took a seat on the other side of him. It might seem forward of her, but the dark elf and his sister were the only people she could say she knew here. With a friendly smile at the priestess seated on her other side, Rhisana joined the table in prayer.

After the prayer, Rhisana set to her meal, watching Adriel out of the corner of her eye. The dark elf seemed to have been starving, though he maintained his dignity as he ate. It must seem strange to him. she thought, I wonder how dark elves give thanks to the gods? Do they at all? Or do they feel they carry on in spite of their gods?

Caught up in thinking about dark elves in general and Adriel in particular, Rhisana nearly missed that Mother Mosine was speaking to her. Fortunately she'd heard the question, and it could only have been directed at one person at the table. "Youthful dreams, I'm afraid." she replied, "For centuries this land has been the haunt of the dark gods. Now the shadow is lifting, and Marmo and her people have the chance to start again. If I could be a part of that, if Falis' light could bring comfort and hope to a land that has known only strife, I could think of no greater honor."

Rhisana subsided back into her chair, blushing slightly at herself. "Of course, once here I find that hope has already returned." she smiled at Elohssa, then turned her eyes back to Mosine. "Now I wish to aid your efforts here however I may, Mother."

Mosine smiled kindly. "Well, you are welcome to assist in any way. If you would like an assignment, I can find something for you tomorrow," the high priestess offered. "I wouldn't recommend exploring much beyond the cities and farmland though, the forest, swamp, and desert are very dangerous places where no one by natives dare to tread. Though, I suppose you might be safe with a guide," Mosine explained, her gaze drifting to Adriel.

OOC: I've started focusing on Adun more, so if you want to head back over there, there's a post waiting for Terin so we can get back in the swing of things.
